Santa Barbara County remains in the Red Tier (Substantial) in the state’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy. We have been in the Red Tier for four weeks and have not met all criteria for the Orange Tier (Moderate). Testing positivity percent and the Health Equity metric meet the criteria for the Orange Tier, but the adjusted case rate remains high and does not meet the Orange Tier criteria. Our county must remain in the Red Tier for at least two additional weeks and achieve at least two consecutive weeks of meeting all Orange Tier criteria to officially progress forward to the Orange Tier.
“We remain hopeful about our ability to achieve forward progress into the next tier but we need every region of our county to be diligent in wearing masks, practicing physical distancing, and very importantly avoiding gatherings within anyone outside your household,” shared Van Do-Reynoso, Public Health Director.
