The State of California announced that it is reassigning several counties, including Santa Barbara County, to the Purple Tier effective tomorrow (Tuesday) evening. The recent escalation of cases throughout most of the state has prompted the step backwards in the state’s economic reopening. California went from 6,000 new cases per day to ~11,000 new cases per day in just a few days, and hospitalizations increased by more than 1,000 in a week. Effective Tuesday at 5 p.m., all Santa Barbara County sectors must follow the restrictions and modifications for the Purple Tier. The County Health Officer is expected to release a health order with greater detail soon.
