Governor Gavin Newsom’s executive order that temporarily suspended certain requirements of the plastic bag ban has now expired. This means that Carpinteria retailers, including local grocery stores, must now provide a reusable grocery bag or recycled paper bag to a customer at a charge of at least 10 cents. For now, grocery stores may still refuse reusable bags provided by customers but can no longer provide single use plastic bags.
