In response to feedback from businesses and residents, the City will reopen all of Linden Avenue starting this morning, Aug. 14. The reopening will continue to provide a benefit to several restaurants that had expanded their outdoor dining areas into the public right-of-way during the brief street closure. City employees will safely block off parking spaces on the edge of the street for the additional tables and chairs. When the City Council elected to close a portion of the commercial street, the goal was to support businesses whose capacity had been severely restricted in this stage of the COVID-19 pandemic. Anticipating that the closure could create challenges, the Council created a flexible plan that would allow for immediate reopening at any point in the month-long closure.
