The City of Carpinteria is actively working to ensure safe social distancing is being practiced throughout Carpinteria as high temperatures increase local and visitor pressure on our beaches and downtown. Additional law enforcement, code compliance, and lifeguarding staff were on duty today (Saturday) and will continue to have a heightened presence at and around beaches and downtown. Parking tickets were issued in the beach neighborhood today, and numerous contacts were made with the public for issues including social distancing and dogs and alcohol on the beach. Groups who were contacted for failing to meet social distancing mandates were cooperative and complied with instructions to separate. Despite the crowds, beachgoers overall were conscious of social distancing requirements and were respectful of mandatory distances on the beach. In this difficult time, your City appreciates your patience and your commitment to social distancing orders that are saving lives.
