The Carpinteria City Council will hold its next regular meeting on Monday, June 22 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. To minimize the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus, the City of Carpinteria has closed physical public access to City Council Chambers for the meeting. Instead, members of the public are encouraged to view the meeting live at www.carpinteria.ca.us or on Government Access Television Channel 21.
The following are highlights of the agenda. Please see full agenda for additional details at https://bit.ly/2NgFhXL. Public comments on agenda items can be made in several ways that are described after the following agenda highlights.
- Consider and discuss options that align with the commitments identified in the recently adopted resolution condemning racism and the unjustified use of force and brutality by law enforcement against people of color (see resolution at https://bit.ly/2XNfSLy) and discuss potential actions to support related objectives of furthering racial equity and justice within local law enforcement, City policies, and through engagement with stakeholders and community groups.
- Consider adoption of the City of Carpinteria’s 2020/21 Budget and authorization of amendments to the City’s 2019/20 Budget. The draft 2020/21 Budget can be reviewed at https://carpinteria.ca.us/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Proposed-Budget-FY21.pdf
- Approval and authorization for the City Manager to sign an amended Agreement with Two Trumpets Communications for services during the pandemic and through 2020/2021.
- Approval and adoption of a resolution to re-ratify the COVID-19 Pandemic Emergency Declaration.
Members of the public may submit comments on agenda items via email to the City Clerk at PublicComment@ci.carpinteria.ca.us by 1 p.m. on Monday, June 22. Comments should be limited to 250 words. Every effort will be made to read the comments into the record, but time limitations may not allow for all comments to be read.
To make a comment while an item is being heard, members of the public may send an email to the City Clerk with contact information. Emails should be sent to PublicComment@ci.carpinteria.ca.us by 1 p.m. on Monday. Emails should include the following information: (a) meeting date, (b) agenda item number, (c) subject or title of the item, (d) full name, (e) call back number and area code. During public comment on the agenda item specified in the email, City staff will make every effort to contact those individuals.
